The Procussions"5 Sparrows For 2 Cents"Rawkus Records

Albums:Gravity (1997) Ambushed (1994) In the early nineties Da Bush Babees hopped in the game with their debut album Ambushed. Powered by songs like “Remember We” and “We Run Things”, the Brooklyn trio (two emcees (Lee Majors and Mr. Man) and a reggae artist (Light)) gained mad love for their ragga influenced hooks and pinpoint rhymes. They returned in ‘97 with Gravity, their second album, right as hiphop was making the transition from more street oriented rhymes to the jiggy era. With its superb production from Mr. Man, Pos (De La), and newcomer Shawn J. Period many consider the follow-up a hiphop classic as it successfully blended jazz, hiphop and reggae and introduced budding superstar Mos Def to the masses. Unfortunately critical acclaim alone doesn’t sell records and Warner Brothers pulled the plug on a third album. Rather than get jerked by another label they stepped into the background. Only now have they resurfaced with plans for a comeback. We got in touch with them and they dropped some jewels on the rap industry and let us in on their plans for the future. First big up to my man Tadah from Urbansmarts.com for hooking up this interview. In the interview he did with you, you mentioned working on various projects over the years but before we get into that I wanted to know what stopped you guys from putting out a third album after Gravity was such a critically acclaimed LP? Mr. Man: What happened with the third one is we weren’t on that label anymore. It would have probably been a natural progression of things if we were on the label where the very next year we would have come out with another album. But since we weren’t on Warner Brothers after the way they pretty much smashed up the second album, it was like it’s time to go. Light: We had the sign or something where we were smart enough to bounce and I think it was good timing because there are so many other things going on with hiphop that you don’t have to just be an artist struggling to promote an album with no help. When you’re making a product and they gonna sell it for fifteen dollars and then give you pennies on it its kinda like highway robbery. It’s good that we were able to leave in our early twenties and still have a little life going on. I was thinking all since this happened around ’97, at the start of the whole jiggy era, did that have anything to do with your departure as well? Light: Ha, nah I think what happened was a lot of money was being made in hiphop but the money wasn’t going directly to the artist. It was going to a lot of people behind the scenes. The artists are just starting to get it now and it’s a little late because the major labels are pulling back on that money. Like Mr. Man said it’s a natural progression to go onto a third album if things are doing well, but if the things aren’t going well and they aren’t promoting it it’s a natural progression to back out and make something else happen. Mr. Man: I must concur. Mr. Man I remember right after that you was hitting with Kweli and Mos Def on Fortified Live and then you dropped a single under Khaliyl. Why did you switch up your name for that joint? Mr. Man: Right after we finished the album I started doing just straight production and I just wanted to create a different producing entity. My name is Khaliyl so people just started calling me Mr. Khaliyl. It’s not even like I was telling people to call me that they just started calling me that. By that time, I was doing all of this production at Rawkus and they just put that on the record and it kind of stuck. It wasn’t like today I’m going to call myself Mr. Khaliyl. They just kinda ran with it. I remember at that point a lot of cats were expecting a solo album, did you have one in the works at that time or was it just a few singles here and there? Mr. Man: You’re always writing and recording but at the time I hadn’t thought about putting together a whole project and doing an album by myself. That’s kind of where we are going now with this new project. We have a new project that we’re doing collectively and we have our solo missions that we’re also recording. Now it’s more like that but back then I was more interested in strictly producing and Rawkus offered me some singles and I was like cool I’ll do that. Да му го набабаня на 50цент

Trae - Restless In hip-hop, every few years a rare voice emerges from a regional scene that carries so much weight that it can't be denied. While the young up and comers flourish on MTV for all the world to see, there's always an underground champion who represents the real pulse of his city, sometimes deeper and more intensely than some want to hear. As artists like Mike Jones, Paul Wall and Slim Thug paint Houston as a city of diamond waterfalls and never ending Bentley dealerships, there's one rapper who is determined to give the world a real picture of his H-Town streets. Trae grew up in Houston, Texas. Born and raised a product of it's south side streets. Among other notable distinctions, he's a member of the Screwed Up Click and the ABN Gang. Since his first appearance on wax, on his cousin Z-ro's debut CD, Look What You Did To Me, to this moment today, Trae has been one of the most consistently lyrical, street reporters this region has ever known. His first official release hit the world in 1999, the classic Guerilla Maab album, Rise. Rise helped set the tone for a whole resurgence in Houston. Back then, Trae, Zro and Dougie D were all about 16 or 17 years old, and their youthful fire showed through on every track. Theirs was a new sound for Houston, harder, more aggressive, yet also smarter and more focused than many who came before them. Not since the Geto Boys released their classic Grip It On That Other Level, ten years earlier, had the city heard such genuinely heartfelt angst. Rise was recorded and released just after Trae returned from a short stint in jail. That experience taught him to focus on his music, but still he remained in the streets. "I caught an aggravated robbery case by being young and crazy." Trae remembers, "I was on the streets. It was a blessing. I didn't do nothing but probably some weeks in jail, but I was on paper for like two years for aggravated robbery. They tried to give me close to 40 years. But it was a blessing man, the DA knew my lawyer and they felt they could give me another chance for me to not mess my life off. Cuz I had been doing music, so I was already known for that.. They ended up doing that to where I only got two years deferred, but if I had messed up on that deferred probation then I'd have did the max that I could do on that case." That forced focus of sorts has paid off for Trae. From his world famous SLAB mixtapes, to his regional solo releases, Trae's name is known in Texas as one of the realest to ever spit. His raw emotion and true tales of the ills of the streets are rare in rap today. On a Trae album you won't find the endless barrage of bling bling. But you will hear some of the most heartfelt tales of woe and fury ever recorded. "People always wonder why we be so serious," Trae reflects, "and I sit back and let 'em know, we keep a lot of shit we go through inside our chests. We ain't the type to go talk about our problems to nobody so that's what make us good at what we do in this music shit. We go through shit on a day to day basis. That's why we have so much shit to talk about. That's why I'm glad we go through shit. I hate that it be how we go through it but it's good that we do go through it because without that, shit, what would we have? Shit, my brother Dinky doing three life sentences, I can't be there. I don't even want him there. I gotta do this for him and for me and my whole family." The tales of reality don't come from hearsay or his imagination either. Trae is the rare rapper who really lives the street life every day. Whether he wants it or not, it is a part of him. "Last year I ended up catching a bullshit case being in a shootout that wasn't even our fault," he explains, "it was the fact that motherfuckers up there on drugs trippin' with theyself and can't handle they drugs and wanna get buck. I'm going through so much bullshit, like I was going through a case between our whole ABN family against a whole certain precinct police station. Not no one policeman, I'm talking about literally where it's like warfare. We come out our house they itching to come get us. We ain't in no fairy tale shit. I'm gonna be consistent till they put me in my grave and hopefully when they put me in my grave it's still gonna be consistent." His solo albums, Losing Composure, Same Thing Different Day , Drama, Return of the Streets, Say Hello to the Asshole and Later Dayz are all regarded as classics. But it's his forthcoming release Restless that has had the streets buzzing for the past year. Restless is a collection of some of Trae's strongest works to date. While there were rumors in the streets of Trae signing a deal with Universal, the real deal is Trae kept things right at home and recently inked a distribution deal with Rap-A-Lot Records. In the meantime, while going through the process of finally getting a major deal, Trae has stayed busy working with everyone from Paul Wall to Kool G. Rap to The Game. But it's his current single with Screwed Up Click members Hawk and the late Fat Pat, "Swang" that is currently putting him over the top. "Swang" is a heartfelt tribute to everything that made H-Town what it is. "It's only right for me to bring my culture and my team." Trae will always ride for his people. " 'Swang,' that was a term Screwed Up Click used period. That's just our shit. Pat is a legend man and with me and Hawk around he ain't never gonna fade away. And then Screw, I ain't gonna let that shit fade away. I brought that shit back because I felt my first impact needed to be what I represent and who the fuck they need to be respecting right now because this man paved the way for everybody." And that's real. The road paved by Screw may be getting trampled by newcomers with pop aspirations, but if you really dig deep into the core of Houston, you'll see that artists like Trae, the Rap-A-Lot Family, Screwed Up Click and the ABN Gang are really what keeps this independent minded city thriving. When everyone else fades away, there will still be the foundation. And Trae is one of the strongest and most unique bricks in that mug. "Yeah I'm away from the pack." Trae states in closing. "People gotta understand that I'm the black sheep of the pack. But also the fact that I'm the truth. Everything I say is true, nothing is falsified. You're gonna see a lot of real shit coming from me. I ain't here to be friendly with nobody. I ain't here really to kick up no dust. It just is what it is, the truth. I'm bringing to the game the realness, no fabricated shit. No ridin' nobody's dick cuz they hot. I did my own thing. I made my own way." 1. Real Talk 2. Screwed Done Already Warned Me Ft Lil Keke 3. So Gangsta Ft Bun B 4. Restless Ft Young Noble 5. Rain, The Ft Dallas & Shyna 6. Hold On Ft Dallas 7. My Life 8. Dedicated 2 You 9. Swang - (with Hawk/Fat Pat) 10. Quit Calling Me 11. I gotta do this for him and for me and my whole family."
The tales of reality don't come from hearsay or his imagination either. I'm gonna be consistent till they put me in my grave and hopefully when they put me in my grave it's still gonna be consistent."
His solo albums, Losing Composure, Same Thing Different Day , Drama, Return of the Streets, Say Hello to the Asshole and Later Dayz are all regarded as classics.
I brought that shit back because I felt my first impact needed to be what I represent and who the fuck they need to be respecting right now because this man paved the way for everybody."
And that's real.
I made my own way."

Young Gotti - Same Day Diffrent Shit... | QUOTE | Ricardo Brown (born November 23, 1972), also known as Kurupt the Kingpin or as Young Gotti is an American gangsta rapper. He has also worked as an actor, in films such as Hollywood Homicide and "Johnson Family Vacation". Although commonly associated with California, he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
His debut was on Dr. Dre's The Chronic in 1992, as a part of the two person group Tha Dogg Pound with Daz. Soon after that Kurupt signed to Death Row Records. He released an album with Daz called Dogg Food in 1995 on Death Row Records. Kurupt became friends with the late rapper Tupac Shakur when Tupac signed with Death Row in 1996 and it was Tupac who gave him the nickname Young Gotti.
In 1997 Kurupt left Death Row records for a position at Antra Records as an A and R, but still remained friends with Death Row and appeared on many albums published by Death Row. In 1998 under Artimus Records he released a double album called Kuruption which went platinum (sold one million records). Shortly after that he released The Streetz is a Mutha which also went platinum. In 2001 Tha Dogg Pound released 2002 under Death Row and Gotti and Dillinger under DPG and Artimus Records. That year Kurupt also released his third solo LP Space Boogie. Since then Kurupt has released Kurupts Greatest Hits: Volume 1.
In 2002 Kurupt met back up with Death Row CEO Suge Knight shortly after he got out of jail and signed with Death Row Records. By signing with Tha Row, Kurupt started a feud with Daz, Snoop and all of the DPG: his old friends. Kurupt released his debut Death Row album "Against The Grain" in August of 2005.
On April 13, 2005, Kurupt reunited with his fellow Dogg Pound mates through the peace meeting labelled "Protect the West", in which several other West Coast rap icons united to put aside their differences in hope of succeeding together. Snoop Dogg organized the gathering at which he also made peace with Kurupt's label CEO Suge Knight.
